UPDATE: Thanks to everyone who participated in the survey. As of 8/29/2012, the survey is now closed. We will be compiling the results and sharing them at meetings throughout the year. Hope to see you there!
This survey will help drive the future goals of the South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association to make the South Side Slopes the best neighborhood for all our residents!
If you’re available this Saturday June 16, please join us at South Side Park at 10AM for a park cleanup. We will be doing general cleanup as well as some trail planning and investigation. We will have clippers, saws, trash bags, gloves, etc. Just bring yourself and meet us in the parking lot below Bandi Schaum Community Garden.

Congratulations to all of the new South Side gardeners. Saturday June 2 was the official planting day at the Bandi Schaum Community Garden in South Side Park.

If you don’t have a plot at the garden, there is still at least 1 way to be involved. The Public Allies Pittsburgh group has partnered with Voices Against Violence (a high school youth group) to create “Veggies Against Violence.” This great group of kids is learning to grow vegetables at the community garden and could use all of our help. This Saturday May 5, a lot of volunteers put in a lot of work to prepare the South Side Community Garden for planting. Thanks to everyone who came out and helped. Hope to see all of you and more back for our last garden work day on Saturday May 12 from 9am to 2pm.
The South Side Community Garden at Bandi Schaum field is a project of the South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association, South Side Community Council, City of Pittsburgh, and Grow Pittsburgh. We saw the need for a collective space for folks in our community to come and garden together. Located on the site of the old baseball field at Bandi Schaum, Spring 2012 was the garden’s first season.

Gardening Information:
Saturday March 31, we are having a South Side Park Cleanup from 1-4PM. We will have 60-100 Carnegie Mellon students helping us pick up trash and cut invasive vines. We will be meeting in the parking lot across from the Mission St Pump House between the bridges before 1 PM and then breaking into teams. Come join your neighbors in improving the hidden jewel of the slopes in South Side Park this Saturday.

The next meeting of the South Side Slopes Neighborhood meeting is March 13, 2012.
