  • South Side Slopes Adopt-A-Step

Instead of traditional group clean-ups this summer, the South Side Slopes Association is starting an Adopt-A-Step program. Is there a problem area near you? Do you have some time to clean it up with your household? If so, sign up to adopt a set of steps near you for one clean-up or the rest of the season.

    Sign up here: https://forms.gle/sYU2gtrYnMzZV6ai8

If you need supplies, we will contact you to arrange a supply pick-up or drop-off.

Please help the South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association in keeping the neighborhood clean of trash and debris for this Summer-Fall 2020. Any little bit helps. Let’s work apart but together to keep our neighborhood looking great!

Don’t have time to help pick up litter? Just $10 pays for trash bags or gloves for clean-ups. Please consider a tax-deductible donation today: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=LYQSMCKB8RZ3N

  • Gateway Clean Up Saturday, July 13

Help pull some unsightly weeds and pick up litter around our gateway to the Slopes, South 18th Street. We’ll meet at the base of the steps and work our way up the street, time permitting. Just bring yourself and a friend or two–we’ll provide gloves, trash bags, and cold water. Email jamin.bogi@southsideslopes with any questions.

Here’s two pictures of a mini-clean up we did a few days ago. Before, this patch of Oakley Way was barely passable. After, it’s a safe, shady way to get around. Your work has an immediate, visible effect!

  • Let’s Talk Trash

Do you hate seeing so much litter and unsightly trash in your Slopes neighborhood?

We do too. We, the Outreach Committee of the South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association, have started a campaign we hope will make change in the Slopes. We’re calling on you, our neighbors, to join us in the fight to clean up the ‘hood. As we continue to battle the ever-present litter on our streets, we are trying to make sure all residents are aware of the City of Pittsburgh rules around trash storage and collection (see below for rules) outside the home.

  • South Side – Sweep Your Stoop

A friendly neighborhood reminder from our Neighborhood Association President and South Side friends:
    South Side- Sweep Your Stoop

Please remember that as a good neighbor, it’s your responsibility to keep the sidewalk in front of your property clean.

If you already do this – Thank you!

If you have a neighbor that consistently does not keep their sidewalk clean, please visit the website below to file a 311 REPORT.

It’s important that we all work together to keep South Side clean. Under City Code 419.09 you are required to keep your business and residential properties clean of trash, leaves, graffiti and litter. The effort is minimal and results can be tremendous to our city and neighborhood.

Please do what’s right so we don’t have to cite!

(Magistrate Court Costs of $50, plus judgement fine of $25 – $350)

Because a CLEAN South Side will help ALL of us and encourage visitors to support and respect our community.

    Thank you,

Kim Collins, President, South Side Chamber of Commerce

Catherine Mitchell, President, South Side Community Council

Brian Oswald, President, South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association

  • Clearing the Steps – One Set at a Time

5 concerned Slopes citizens tackled 3 sets of steps on Saturday.

    The results speak for themselves:

    Good work!

This particular set was out of control. If you’re walking the stairs, please help out by regularly snapping or clipping invasive vines and weeds.

  • South Side Park Cleanup

If you’re available this Saturday June 16, please join us at South Side Park at 10AM for a park cleanup. We will be doing general cleanup as well as some trail planning and investigation. We will have clippers, saws, trash bags, gloves, etc. Just bring yourself and meet us in the parking lot below Bandi Schaum Community Garden.

We will also be joined by some of the Pittsburgh Public Allies. For more information on the Public Allies program, check out their web page: http://www.publicallies.org/pittsburgh
