South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association is hosting a virtual Development Activities Meeting (DAM) on Tuesday, November 21st, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.
What: Changing 2501 Arlington Ave to become a 2-unit (duplex) building.
Why: SSSNA is a Registered Community Organization (RCO) through the Department of City Planning to provide input and feedback on local development activities and planning procedures in partnership with community stake holders.

The South Side Neighborhood Association is very excited to introduce new board member DrCoralee Toal. Coralee moved to Pittsburgh in 2018 from Oklahoma and then to the South Side Slopes in 2020. Coralee is an OB/GYN for Magee hospital and enjoys biking, skiing, and balloon arch making. She lives in the Slopes with her husband, Austin, and their rescue dog Collins. You’ll find Coralee walking around the neighborhood with her pup and a trash bag, as she believes in keeping the streets clean. So please join us in welcoming this incredible neighbor to our board!

We will back at the Kollar Club (3226 Jane St) on Tuesday October 17th at 6:30pm. We will have candidates for Allegheny County District 13 as well as the new Zone 3 police commander and general Slopes updates. Hope to see you there!
Pittsburgh StepTrek is the annual South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association fundraiser that supports projects for the betterment of the community. This family-friendly event combines photography, historic narrative and a sense of neighborhood dependent upon steps. Through this annual event, we keep the city focused on maintenance of city steps throughout the neighborhood.
A link to the digital maps and route narratives will be sent via email by midnight on October 6. This will allow you to walk the routes during the event on October 7, or anytime after that day.
Day-of registration will take place in the UPMC Employee Parking Lot at 21st and Josephine Streets.
Once again, the South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association will be competing in the Garbage Olympics! Let’s make our neighborhood for extra clean for #StepTrek!
The Garbage Olympics is Pittsburgh’s yearly neighborhood vs neighborhood competition to see who can pick up the most trash!
After the cleanup, there is a post event party at Threadbare Cider House with free refreshments and prizes. They award prizes for the most unusual trash and more!

What:
2712 Burham Street Development: They are seeking a use variance with Zoning Board of Adjustment to have two single-family residential attached units (one in each parcel) in an R1D zoning district that only allows single-family residential detached.
Arlington Recreation Center Mural: This is a community review for an art project on a city owned wall.

Of the 75+ people who attended the South Side Slopes summer picnic, the biggest feedback was to incorporate some animals into the forest. Please let us know if you have any further feedback for us!
We are hoping to finalize the design and present at the Pittsburgh Art Commission for review in September.
